(December 12, 2007) – A Marine Corps CH-53 helicopter hovers over a rigid inflatable boat (RIB) as Special Warfare Combatant-craft Crewmen (SWCC) from Special Boat Team 12 (SBT-12), stationed at Naval Base Coronado, Calif., rig the boat to the aircraft during a Maritime External Air Transportation System (MEATS) evolution. SWCCs use this maritime transportation capability to move RIBs and special operation crafts-riverine (SOC-R), and the boat crew from land to water.
